The power of "NOW" - II
All about now!
It’s gonna be the continuation of the previous blog on the topic “The Power of NOW”. If you haven’t read it yet, do read it first for better understanding.
Previously, I thought thinking about our past or future couldn’t be stopped. But that’s not it.
Mostly, we stay in our imaginary world. But have we ever though - when are we imagining things? We know what we imagine and which time period we imagine, but when do we do it? — Isn’t it NOW!! We may be imagining something 10 years into the future, but we are still present here, in this very moment, thinking about it. How are we missing that?
What’s the reason we aren’t living in the present ?
What if all of this is because of our “mind”. We are trapped it! It constantly drags us to the past or future - a compulsion to live almost exclusively through memory and anticipation. We’re preoccupied with what's behind or ahead, and we refuse to honour the now..
But why does this compulsion arises?
Because we get our identity from the past
Because the future that holds the promise of salvation, of the fulfilment.
But both are illusions!
Have we ever experienced, done, thought, or felt anything outside the Now? Is it possible for anything to happen or be outside the Now?
Of course there is nothing without now. Now am living in my future imaginary world it’s NOW, not the future, no need to be so complicated. Just think, it’s always NOW not the past or future!!!.
What we think of as the past is a memory trace, stored in the mind, of a former Now.
These can’t be understood by our mind. It’s the moment we grasp, from time to present.
💭Damn true!! The moment I realised this, hits different. - time is a biggest obstacle of time!
Make it your practice to withdraw attention from past and future whenever they are not needed.
If you find it hard to enter the Now directly, start by observing the habitual tendency of your mind to want to escape from the Now. You will observe that the future is usually imagined as either better or worse than the present. If the imagined future is better, it gives you hope or pleasurable anticipation. If it is worse, it creates anxiety. Both are illusory.
Notice how often you think of the past or future, - but don’t judge or analyse it.
Just observe the thought,
Feel the emotion,
Witness the reaction within you.
Everything happens now.
The past is a story.
The future is imagination.
Only now is real.🤞
